This event is a 40h milsim airsoft game in Gothenburg.
The focus is force-on-force action. There will be a lot of emphasis on faction wide unit coordination and teamwork. The scenario guarantees progression and frequent meaningful contact. There will be fixed off-game base camps.
We have a lot of experience organizing airsoft games in this genre. We have done so via VSAF for more than a decade. This event is an attempt to take a proven concept and scale it up, both in time and player count. We organize the event we would want to attend ourselves.
*
On a scale from CoD to ArmA, we aim for Squad. Enough realism to get 80% of the immersion, but still a streamlined experience that focus on the fun parts.
Here is a video intro for the event.
Gamestyle
The style of this game is a force on force direct action scenario with lots of combat. There will be chess-like maneuvering for capture and control of several simultaneous objectives in a woodland environment. The scenario will ensure a progression in the game, so that we do not fight for the same objectives over and over again. Most of the game will focus on large scale operations where the whole faction coordinates to push a front-line, but there will be an opportunity for smaller recon-style missions as well for interested squads. There will be some scenario change between Saturday and Sunday, providing some variation in experience between the two days.
*
Operational orders
Detailed operational orders will be distributed via email to the players on each faction prior to the game. Those orders will contain more information about the exact scenario, the base camp locations, etc.
*
Night game
The night scenarios will differ between the two nights, providing different experiences. The first night will be more asymmetrical while the second night will be a more open style scenario. Both night scenarios are designed to be short, intense experiences that one can partake in for the duration and then go sleep. The rules and scenarios for the night games have been designed to be interesting for players both with and without NVG equipment. Participation in the night scenarios is not mandatory.

Logistics
– The two factions will have one base each. Bases are off game, no fighting or raiding the bases!
– Players are expected to bring enough supplies (ammo, water, food, rain gear) with then out in the field to not need to return to base for anything more than sleeping!
– Players bring their own camping equipment. Note that the bases are located in forest, so very large tents, caravans or similar will be difficult or impossible to use. You will have to carry your camping equipment a few hundred meters from your vehicle. You might have to walk up to 2 km from the parking lot to the camp site, but you can drop your equipment closer.
– Players bring their own water. Crew will provide some water in the base camps as a backup, but players should normally not need this extra help. As a rule of thumb, an adult man at rest should consume roughly 2.5 liters per day at a minimum. I recommend to bring at least 6 liters for the game.
– No toilets will be provided by the game. There is a pizza place and a Burger King restaurant with toilets within a few minutes drive. It is also allowed to make your needs in the woods, provided you handle it neatly and bury it properly.
– Players bring all their own trash back home.
– There is a lake with a swimming spot nearby, if players want to bathe before a long drive home.
*
Factions
– There are two factions in this game, NATO and RUSFOR.
– Note that there are no hard restrictions on looks. You can play on any side wearing any camouflage. I believe it is more valuable that people can participate so we get larger units allowing us to practice more involved tactics than that every player looks coherent with their faction. That said, looking coherent do contribute to immersion. Therefore I would ask all players to try and fit in visually with your faction to the best of your ability.
– The recommended look for NATO is Woodland camouflage and western style weapons.
– The recommended look for RUSFOR is EMR/Digital flora camouflage and eastern style weapons. Think “green bean” invasion of Crimea.
– Since there are no hard restrictions on looks, we will use colored armbands to facilitate IFF (Identification Friend or Foe). Each player will be given one thin, discrete armband to be worn around the left arm. It is however difficult to IFF someone at a distance with this, so the primary IFF mode is to maintain radio communication with your faction and keep track of where all other friendly units are.

Combat camera
Every squad should have a designated “combat camera” player. It is this players job to
– Record the briefing and planning before every mission for his squad.
– Do a short debrief interview with his squad leader after every mission.
– Generally record and take pictures of cool moments and slice-of-life during the game. Capture the emotions of his fellow squad members.
– Provide the image and video material to crew (me) after the game.
After the game Little Green Men will go through this media material gathered from all squads on both factions and edit a comprehensive battle report for the whole milsim event.
The general rules can be found here.
